Okay, kids. runDisney’s WDW Marathon Weekend Dopey Challenge. My plane leaves, as they say, on the morrow. Let’s do this.
Do I feel really good about it? No! Although I must admit – I asked for symmetry, and I was given symmetry. During my 2015 Dopey Challenge run, I was coming off injury. For 2025, I will be… coming off injury. Hooray! That time went fine, so this one should too? Right? Yes? No worries?
Okay, some worries. (Don’t tell Timon and Pumbaa.) But I’m not giving up just yet. With my strong Marine Corps Marathon mental game I proved to myself that I can divorce the experience from the metrics and focus on safety – and joy. I plan to bring the same to every race. Well, that and walk the 5K. Might as well hedge my bets a little.
Normally I would supplement this content with a list of goals for the trip. In this case, however, I think those are the goals for my trip: safety and joy. Safe, joyful races. Safe, joyful fun at WDW.
For I also have plans that are fun – and err on the side of caution. Imma take this trip very easy. Number one priority is naptime. But also some pretty sweet dining reservations! And post-race cake from Gideon’s. Can’t forget that.
