The Fairest Week in Review: 12/10

Sad Marie

In the immortal words of Marvin the Paranoid Android: Oh GOD I’m so depressed.

In other words, I flew home from Walt Disney World on Sunday, and now I’m falling into the tired, inevitable old cliche: constantly thinking things like “Yesterday at this time, I was eating breakfast with Tigger.” “Yesterday at this time I was walking past Spaceship Earth.”

Three days ago, I was setting the Magic Kingdom on fire.

And then I forgot to close out my spreadsheet on my computer, so when I got to work this morning and turned on my monitor it was THERE, staring at me. Mocking me. Whispering: I now represent your past.

I dunno. Naturally I’m always bummed when a WDW trip is over, but for some reason I’m particularly down this time around. Maybe because I spent over six months planning it? Almost harder than not being there anymore is not having it to look forward to anymore.

Anyway. What a whiny little baby I am. I took more photos than ever before and I have great Twitter conversations to re-read and I’ll be reliving it through a trip report on this blog over the next week or two and Lord knows I’ll be back

Then too: Moon and I are going to Disneyland for the Tinker Bell Half in a little over a month! So I’ve got nothing to be sad about. At all.*

* Not that this stops me. I has a sad. I also has an Annual Pass now. Who wants to go to WDW with me?!

I actually did run, last week, believe or not, just a lot less than usual – 23 miles over two runs instead of the usual 35-give-or-take-a-couple-miles over three. I packed running stuff for WDW but never really had time for it (shocker). Mostly I listened to WDW music in preparation – FotLK and IllumiNations and Wishes and now I kinda want to cry so you can fill in the rest yourself.

Um… roundup. Super short one this week; didn’t do much blog reading while at WDW. Back in the saddle for next week, promise. If you wrote something great last week that I might have missed, be sure to let me know!

  1. I feel you on that awful Post-Disney Depression; it kills me that I have an annual pass and- at home- a relatively short commute to WDW, but I still have to leave it for months at a time when I'm up at school! Sometimes the thing that helps the most is immersing myself in all things Disney parks (YouTube ride-throughs, ride soundtracks, studying to area music loops). I get a little taste to hold me over until I can experience the real thing! Luckily, though, I'll be in the Magic Kingdom in less than a week! Glad you had a fun trip! 🙂

  2. Okay, so now let's talk about your DL trip because I want to hear all about it. And I promise to try my best to re-enact Spaceship Earth on our grand and miraculous journey through Zoolights. Look at this Panda pounding reeds flat…
And is every run you do a long run?!

  3. I can't wait to hear your Judi Dench voice!

Mostly, yes! Because then I can say to myself, "I burned 1100 calories yesterday. I can so eat four chocolate-covered cherries" like I just did.

  4. Damn, how do you fit that in?! I am in awe of you right now. Plus I just realized you meant four individual cherries, not four boxes of chocolate covered cherries. I feel foolish and gluttonous.

  5. Well, I generally do 3 runs a week lasting anywhere from 2 (average) to 3 (occasionally) hours. Basically it's what I do instead of socialize/relax on weekdays. I'm in awe of YOUR lungs, which can apparently function in cold weather. That's more than I can say.

Luckily there were only 4 left – otherwise I could make no promises!

  6. I love the cold but I've actually been choosing the treadmill to a) avoid downhills, in turn messing up my knee and b) because I hear it's going to be warm in Disney so I need to just deal with being hot and uncomfortable.
And now I'm afraid of ice. Like, super afraid of ice.
